Ease your mind and budget... build your water or wastewater treatment plant with the very best pipe, fittings and support

Today's owners, designers and builders of water and wastewater treatment plants are protecting the quality of life in communities across the nation for many generations to come.

Along with the ever-growing importance of treating water and wastewater these days, there is also a strong economic incentive to design and build treatment facilities to serve reliably and efficiently far into the future.

Each day, Price Brothers Company continues an unmatched service record for producing fully reliable concrete pressure pipe and fittings for all types of water and wastewater treatment plants. Our company began serving the water works industry in 1926 with a contract to manufacture and install an 84-inch diameter concrete pressure pipeline. That line is still in service today.

For the record, over the past 50 years, more than 20 million linear feet of prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) from Price Brothers Company has been placed in service. That record is a vital consideration for anyone now planning a water or wastewater treatment facility that must endure for decades.

Price Brothers PCCP has been chosen for over 170 power plants in the U.S. and an even greater number of water and wastewater treatment plants.

Even large diameter PCCP (at right) can be installed easily in less time. The time-tested O-ring pipe joints assure water-tight performance for generations.

Price Brothers provides the superior pipe and fittings your plant requires

Treatment plants require very large and complex pipe systems -- that's why Price Brothers Company is the best source for all your plant piping. We design, manufacture and deliver every pipe section and fitting exactly as you need it -- when you need it -- including steel pipe for your above ground and in-plant applications.

Below ground, the rigid strength of Price Brothers prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) eliminates the reliance on backfill for lateral support. This greatly reduces the cost and time to install PCCP as compared to installing flexible piping materials.

Price Brothers provides a complete range of fittings -- including wyes, elbows, tees, manifolds, headers, and reducers -- to match its concrete pressure pipe. All fittings are fabricated in our own plants to meet the same pressure and loading conditions as the adjacent pipe. These matching fittings are made from welded steel sheet or plate, with the appropriate type of steel joint rings welded to each end, and then lined and externally coated with cement mortar or concrete for lasting protection.

As with Price Brothers concrete pressure pipe, all our fittings combine the tensile strength of steel with the compressive strength and corrosion-inhibiting properties of concrete and mortar.

Water pressure inside each fitting is fully resisted by the steel cylinder. Outlets in the pipe and fittings are reinforced by replacing the area of steel removed from the wall with either wrappers, saddles, collars, or crotch plates.

Superior pipe, fittings and engineered performance; you can get it all from Price Brothers.

Each fitting begins with the fabrication of its steel shell to which the joint rings and flanges are attached. Wire mesh is then tack-welded to the steel shell to anchor the mortar lining and exterior coating.

Very large-diameter PCCP manifold pieces provided easy connections for the steel outlet fittings. Custom designed “special” PCCP pipe can be supplied with “factory installed” outlets and extra steel plate reinforcement around the pipe’s internal steel cylinder.

Price Brothers PCCP pipe and fittings are frequently inspected both before and after shipment to the job site.

To save construction time and costs, design your plant with Price Brothers

From start to finish, designing and building your next water or wastewater treatment facility is an economic race against time and the unexpected. That’s why it pays to have the experienced and technically qualified Price Brothers team serving as your partner.

To reduce costs, cut installation time and minimize space requirements, many of your fittings for complex layouts can be custom designed and made by combining such features as special ends, outlets, reducers, and wall flanges all into the same easy-to-install fitting.

Prestressed concrete cylinder pipe --with its associated variety of tees, wyes, elbows, reducers and other fittings -- is also well suited for distribution headers and piping galleries.

For greater design flexibility and easier installation in complex and crowded water and wastewater treatment plants, PCCP pipe can be supplied in short sections, bevel and half-bevel deflections, and special sections fitted with various types of tangent and centerline outlets.

Because it is so quickly installed without special bedding or backfilling, Price Brothers concrete pressure pipe helps you achieve important economies of time and dollars.

Water and wastewater treatment plants are designed to carry various kinds of water. These flows may include aggressive natural waters, highly septic sanitary sewage and a wide range of chemicals and industrial waste materials. Concrete pressure pipe is particularly suited to safely carry such aggressive flows, although it may be necessary to line the interior of the pipe to handle some of them. Price Brothers engineers are ready to help you evaluate any potential threats and recommend the most appropriate protective measures.

Although the humid environments in interior piping galleries can induce atmospheric corrosion of ferrous pipe materials, concrete pressure pipe actually thrives under the same conditions. In fact, the cement-rich mortar that coats the concrete pipe and fittings gradually gains additional strength in such humid environments.

The ability of the pipe's cement-rich mortar coating to inhibit corrosion is another important benefit of using concrete pressure pipe in water and wastewater treatment plants. The alkaline environment created by the mortar yields a pH value of about 12.5 around the steel -- placing the steel components of the pipe into a passive state that is safe from corrosion.

The ability of Price Brothers Company to make almost any type of adapter also saves on installation costs.

Even on large diameter joints, proper alignment is easily and quickly achieved because each fitting is custom designed. This saves both time and money.

Price Brothers field support helps keep your project flowing smoothly

image15.gif

Installation contractors know they can rely on the Price Brothers Field Service Representative to closely monitor their progress and help spot potential problems before they can cause a delay.
All the pipe for your project is custom designed, manufactured and delivered on schedule to the construction site—this can include very large pieces weighing as much as 90 tons or more carried by truck (using special trailers), barge, rail or sometimes by ocean freighter.

Even before the first pipe and fittings are unloaded at the site, your Price Brothers field support team is closely tuned to your treatment plant’s piping construction schedule and ready to help you address any special requirements.

In addition to coordinating important details associated with your project, your Price Brothers Field Service Representative is there to help you get your installation off to a good start. This includes thoroughly reviewing with the contractor the complete step-by-step laying schedule supplied by Price Brothers. He will also provide any necessary training for the crew and inspectors.

As your job progresses, the Field Service Representative is trained to spot potential problems and help solve them before any delay can occur. At times, he may call for technical support from the Price Brothers engineering team.

Installing PCCP is made easier by the pipe’s longer laying length which reduces the number of joints required.
