Bar-Wrapped Pipe offers value and performance

When it comes to the water pipe for medium and low working pressures to be installed under moderate coverage, water system owners in the eastern U.S now have a fresh choice -- Price Brothers Bar-Wrapped Pipe (BWP).

Produced to the AWWA C-303-70 Standard in five diameters from 24 to 48 inches, BWP from Price Brothers offers system owners several important benefits. It's very cost efficient in terms of materials, handling, and installation, and it effectively protects the steel cylinder and joint rings with a portland cement based lining and coating.

The distinguishing feature of the C-303-70 design is the steel reinforcing bar wrapped around the cylinder prior to applying the outer coat of mortar. Developed in 1942, BWP has long been used for water transmission, distribution and sewer force mains in the western United States and in Canada -- when working pressures don't exceed 300 psi.

A major feature of BWP is its lighter weight -- compared to Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe -- which allows more pipe to be shipped per truckload and makes handling on the jobsite easier. It can be easily modified in the field to add manhole outlets and service taps.

Having earned an international reputation for producing superior quality PCCP, Price Brothers Company is now offering BWP with a wide range of fittings and bevel adapters in five sizes up to 48-inches in diameter. We feel that in these sizes, BWP can offer many of our customers comparable durability and service life for a lower total cost.

By deciding to produce and market BWP, Price Brothers will in no way risk compromising the market leadership and customer trust we have earned for our PCCP. We will, however, commit to providing BWP customers with the same exceptional support that makes us the leader in concrete pressure pipe.
